Last night, L’Est Républicain report that Madagascan (20 caps) centre-back Thomas Fontaine (30) arrived in Lorraine yesterday to undergo a medical with the struggling Ligue 2 side, who currently sit at the bottom of the table, 7 points from safety.
This follows talks between the two clubs earlier this month.
The move would see him return to Ligue 2 for the first time since 2020, when he helped Lorient win the division. Since his arrival in the top flight, however, he has only made 6 league appearances.
With his contract running out at the end of the season, it is possible that Lorient may let him go on a free transfer, rather than on a loan deal.
