Kasper Schmeichel on joining Nice: “It was time for a new challenge.”

As Nice’s five summer signings were unveiled to the press this afternoon, Kasper Schmeichel notably reflected on his move to the south of France after an 11-year spell at Leicester City, as well as linking up with compatriot Kasper Dolberg.

“It was time for a new challenge. It was a difficult decision to make but I had to take it. I love Leicester but I wanted to try something else. It’s a new experience for my family and it will allow me to learn a new language.”

“And most of all I’m joining a very ambitious club. It actually reminds me of Leicester when I arrived over there, it’s a club who wants to become big and do great things. I’m not the marquee signing. My role is to bring stability to the team.”

“I was able to speak with Nampalys Mendy and Ricardo Pereira and they told me great things about the club. I also spoke with Kasper Dolberg to find out more.”

“In Denmark we follow Danish players playing abroad very closely. He has some great qualities and I can tell you that Nice have a great player in Dolberg.”
