Lionel Messi absent for PSG Lorient with inflamed achilles injury

According to an official statement from the club, Lionel Messi is set to miss Paris Saint-Germain’s trip to FC Lorient on Saturday as a precautionary measure due to an inflamed achilles tendon.

The statement also confirms that Keylor Navas will also be absent due to treatment for back pain, as Presnel Kimpembe should also miss the game as he continues individual training with a return set for early next week. Meanwhile, Fabian Ruíz will remain sidelined due to a left hamstring injury, and is expected back to training at the end of next week.

After completing a full 90 against Juventus in midweek, Messi misses out on this weekend’s game but is set to return to training next week, with one game remaining for Paris Saint-Germain against Auxerre at the Parc des Princes on 13th November before the World Cup break.

Christophe Galtier will speak at PSG’s press conference this afternoon.
