— Soon after WWE announced that they would be streaming EVOLVE’s 10th Anniversary show on the WWE Network – directly against AEW’s Fight for the Fallen event – Kenny Omega took to Twitter to voice his displeasure. In a tweet that he has since deleted, Omega stated:
“If lining your pockets with blood money is okay, then what’s wrong with trying to undermine a charity show for victims of gun violence? I hear that healthy competition is supposed to be a good thing and yet I can’t help but feel like I’m gonna be sick.”
— The ‘blood money’ comment is an obvious reference to WWE’s lucrative yet criticized deal with the Saudi Arabian government. He then posted a follow-up tweet:
I’ve said my piece and it opened the door to a very toxic environment. It wasn’t a message to fans, or the boys, just the decision makers. I wish everyone wrestling on any show that day all the best. That is all.

— EVOLVE actually announced their show in Philadelphia before AEW announced Fight for the Fallen, but at that time there was no involvement from WWE nor any indication that they would be streaming the show on the network, even though the idea to show EVOLVE events there was considered dating back several months. The head-to-head nature continues to build on the two promotions running shows against one another as AEW’s launch in January was a rally held across the street from a Smackdown LIVE show and WWE has since announced their NXT UK TakeOver event is going to run on August 31, the same day as AEW’s All Out, but due to timezone differences, these shows will not run head-to-head.
