Haryana government,in a bid to meet the national sanitationmission, has hired a private company for segregation, disposal and generation of electricity and fertilisers at the Bandhawari treatment plant. The plant has been closed for the last four years after nearby villages complained of series of health issues.

Rao Narbir Singh, the environment and forest minister of Haryana, said this will be a first of its kind plant in India with a capacity of waste disposal and generation of electricity with any investment from the state government.
