Former NXT Champion Aleister Black has been out of action for the last few weeks, dealing with a groin injury that reportedly required a minor surgery. He was written off television via a mysterious parking lot beatdown, which was done to remove him from the main event of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV at the last minute.
It was originally expected that Black would not be out of action for very long, but the Dutch superstar did not work this Thursday night’s NXT television tapings at Full Sail University. That means, at the very least, he’ll be off television until the final week in September which is when the next set of tapings take place.
It’s unknown at this point if Black is being kept at home because his injuries were worse than originally expected, or if they are just continuing the mystery storyline around who attacked him, leading to a big reveal down the road and a match at NXT Takeover: WarGames this November.
As for who is responsible, that remains to be seen. They shot an angle last weekend where EC3 accused Lars Sullivan of the attack, which continued to play out at Thursday night’s tapings. It was announced that The Undisputed Era, for whatever reason, were no longer suspects in the investigation.
It’s a good bet that whoever it is, they won’t be involved in any of the other major programs heading into WarGames. Right now, Johnny Gargano looks to be high on the list of potential suspects. For full spoiler-filled results from the latest tapings at Full Sail, check out this link.
