Impact Wrestling Roster Says Farewell to LAX at Mexico City TV Tapings

Impact Wrestling says goodbye to LAX.

This Friday night in Mexico City at night two of their television tapings, the promotion said farewell to one of the greatest dues in its long-running history, Santana and Ortiz. Following a tag team match against Rich Swann and Willie Mack, LAX celebrated with the fans and several members of the Impact locker room.

Santana and Ortiz were brought into the company in 2017 as a part of the complete relaunch of the LAX faction, originally founded by Konnan and Homicide in 2005, with Hernandez helping to popularize the group shortly after.

The original crew would later return to Impact in 2018 when Eddie Kingston became a member of the faction, only to defect and turn on Konnan, leading to an all-out war between LAX and The OGz that resulted in several memorable matches over the Impact World Tag Team Championships.

A long and bloody rivalry with the Lucha Brothers, Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix, helped popularize the group even further in recent years, often spilling out of the promotion and into the independent scene.

While Santana and Ortiz have wrapped up their time with Impact Wrestling for now, they likely won’t be off your television/computer screens for very long. It has been well-reported that both WWE and AEW, among other companies, have serious interest in the tag team. There has also been a considerable amount of speculation that they will be revealed as Chris Jericho’s mystery partners on the October 2 debut of AEW on TNT.
