We are just days away from a total overhaul of the weekly WWE television product, complete with brand new commentary teams for Monday Night Raw and Friday Night Smackdown.
Many were surprised with the announcement that Vic Joseph and newcomer Dio Maddin would lead the new Raw commentary team, alongside WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, both guys were actually picked by Paul Heyman, the Executive Director of the Raw brand.
Maddin is the new name of former NFL player Brennan Williams, who has been wrestling in WWE developmental for the last few years. He just recently joined the 205 Live commentary team and has been working with Vic Joseph for several weeks now, but he is very new to the announcing game. He does have a tremendous amount of charisma and is a huge fan, and seems to have a lot of potential in the role.

In addition, Lawler on commentary is reportedly a short-term decision.
