High School Section 8AA recognized an Academic All-Star Team, Academic Team Champion, and Alfred Olson Memorial Scholarship wrestlers at the Section 8AA Individual Tournament held at Hawley, Minn. on February 22-23.

The Section 8AA Academic All-Star Team included 22 wrestlers from seven teams.

The Section 8AA Academic Team Champion was Perham with a team GPA of 3.85.

Six finalists, including two recipients, were recognized for the Section 8AA Alfred Olson Memorial Scholarship Award. Finalists were chosen from senior applicants by GPA, school involvement, community involvement and wrestling accomplishments at the section and state levels. Candidates also submitted an essay that answered the following question, “How has wrestling impacted your life?” Two wrestlers were chosen to receive a $500 scholarship – Jake Andres of Pierz and Ty Moser of Perham. The other finalists were Zach Peterson of Perham, Cade Lundeen of Thief River Falls, Noah Olds of Detroit Lakes, and Ashton Clark of Park Rapids.
