Bravo Reality Show Surgeon, Girlfriend Charged In Date Rapes

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A Newport Beach orthopedic surgeon seen on a Bravo reality dating show in 2014, has been charged with drugging and raping two women, together with his girlfriend, the Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said Tuesday. The OCDA’s office was seeking additional victims, possibly hundreds more, who were “anesthetized” with various non-hospital-type drugs, and then sexually assaulted, Rackauckas alleged.

Grant William Robicheaux, 38, and Cerissa Laura Riley, 31 of Brea, were both accused of preying on women at bars, plying them with large quantities of alcohol and then bringing them back onto a boat or to Robicheaux’s apartment to perform sexual acts on the victims without consent, the OCDA shared at a press conference, Tuesday.

The pair was arrested and charged on Sept. 11 with rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, assault with intent commit sexual offense, possession of a controlled substance for sale and possession of an assault weapon. Both have since posted bond, Rackauckas said.

According to Rackauckas, there were “a number of drugs found (in Robicheaux’s) residence,” including “ecstasy, date rape drugs, cocaine and nothing that would be a pure anesthetic,” however, the drugs were used in a manner to “put somebody under.”

The OCDA’s office alleged that the two “teamed up” on victims, luring them with alcohol. The sex acts were videoed, according to Rackauckas, however only two victims are currently known.

According to the charges against the pair, the first victim met Robicheaux and Riley at a bar in April of 2016. She was allegedly drugged and raped, which she reported to the Newport Beach Police Department the following day, according to reports, and she tested positive for “multiple drugs,” Rackauckas said.

In October of that same year, the second victim drank “until she passed out,” and woke up screaming for help in Robicheaux’s apartment until neighbors called police, the OCDA’s office reported. Newport Beach Police department investigated the case.

“Clearly, there are videos and the women on the videos appear to be intoxicated to point of unconsciousness or near unconsciousness, well past the point of consent,” Rackauckas said. “We don’t know if (Robicheaux and Riley) videoed all of their sex acts but many are on the videos that we have not yet identified. We don’t know how many victims there might be out there, but we ask you to come forward.”

“You’ve heard of a wolf in sheep’s clothing,” Rackauckas said during the press conference. “That wolf can also be dressed as a doctor. That wolf can be a beautiful woman. If you were a victim, it is not your fault. Drinking and being drugged to the point you could not give your sexual consent was not your fault.”

Robicheaux was employed by the Newport Care Medical Group, however, his website has since been removed, as has his facebook page. He appeared on the Bravo reality dating show “Online Dating Rituals Of The American Male” in 2014, in episodes titled “Is Grant’s Perfect Woman His Roommate?” and “Three’s A Crowd.” According to Rackauckas, the women he dated in those shows were not thought to be victims as of this report.

It is not yet known how Robicheaux initially met Riley.
