Juncker to resume full duties next week
The Commission president underwent surgery earlier this month.
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will resume his full duties from Monday, when he will meet his successor Ursula von der Leyen.
Juncker, 64, had to undergo emergency gallbladder surgery earlier this month, forcing him to cut short his vacation and miss the G7 summit in France last weekend.
On Tuesday, the EU executive announced that he was “back in the office” and said his first appointment had been a phone call with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
As of next week, Juncker will resume all activities, Commission spokeswoman Mina Andreeva said Friday.
Following his meeting with von der Leyen on Monday, Juncker will meet on Tuesday with Manfred Weber, chairman of the conservative European People’s Party group in the European Parliament, Andreeva added.
