Hatem Ben Arfa: “I am in heaven.”

OGC Nice attacking midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa has given an exclusive interview to Téléfoot during which he explained his incredible resurgence, notably gaining back a place in the French national team setup.

On OGC Nice…

This is a family club, this a club that is giving me confidence and there is a coach who is making me grow. I think that in another environment it would not be the same. I have been in heaven ever since I signed here.

How do you feel about your resurgence…

It is not a feeling of revenge. It is more of a feeling of being able to prove to myself (that I have what it takes), before proving to everyone else. That I can succeed. The criticisms of me were justified.

On the French national team…

I only have positive things to say about coming back to Clairefontaine, coming back to the French national team, the French shirt, it was truly only positive and these are things that remain in my head even today. It makes me happy.

On his previously dicey relationship with Didier Deschamps at Marseille…

We spoke to each other, we spoke a bit about what happened at Marseille, we ironed things out. It went very well. I was sincerely very happy about that.

On EURO 2016…

Of course I would like to be a part of it. But the most important thing is that France goes into operation commando and wins the tournament. Being a part of it would be great, but the main goal has to be to truly go for it, to win.
