Best Swimwear Brands

Late spring and early summer means I am shopping all my go-to swimwear brands to find the most flattering and stylish swimsuits for my clients and myself. Every season there might be one new line that shines, but for the last few years, these have been the best swimwear brands that I keep going to time and time again.

Visit my How To Tie A Sarong post for ways you can tie a sarong to elevate your swimwear.

Luxury Swimwear Brand: Agua Bendita

Agua Bendita is a Colombian-based luxury swimwear brand featuring elegant, yet edgy patterns. All of their prints are designed in-house by local female artisans who hand draw the designs before they’re digitized and printed onto fabrics. Any embroidery is also hand-done by local artisans, and Agua Bendita is dedicated to improving the living conditions of their artisans — mostly stay-at-home moms —  by providing them with resources to advance their careers and support their families. I recently wore one of their bikinis for my birthday celebration, and adore its colorful pattern and the details on its straps.

Available at Revolve and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Sizing: S-L

Material: self: 80% polyester, 20% elastane. lining: 86% polyester, 14% spandex

Swimwear Brand: Beach Riot

Designer Nicole Hanriot-Tinkess created this California brand to combine her love for beaches and travel. As seen in my Cancun blog post, her suits have bright colors and simple, yet chic designs. I like Beach Riot’s one-pieces because they offer coverage when you’re doing more active water activities, while still staying interesting with their details, like the belt around the waist and ties on the shoulders.

Available at Beach Riot, Bloomingdale’s, and Revolve.

Sizing: XS-XL

Material: 82% polyester, 18% spandex

Best Luxury Swimwear Brand: Vix

I dare say Vix is the best swimwear brand, period. And I swear it’s not because they are based in San Diego. Trust me, I’ve reached out to them numerous times to do a collaboration to no avail, and I still promote them tirelessly. As I mentioned in my interview with CNN, I love how their pieces make me feel sexy, yet still secure. Their bikinis are comfortable and their bottoms do not cut into your flesh — a consistent problem with most style-forward suits. I also must mention that they consistently have the freshest color options every single season. Vix is a MUST for all my bikini lovers.

Available at Vix.

Sizing: S-XL

Material: 84% polyamide, 16% elastane

Luxury Swimwear Brand: L*Space

L*Space’s swimwear is so classic California, which makes sense considering the state is the brand’s home. L*Space is a great line for classic fits and summery colors, with a hint of retro sportiness. I especially love their coverups, which I featured in my post on my go-to brands for resort wear.

Available at L*Space, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom.

Sizing: XS-XL

Material: 80% nylon, 20% spandex

Swimwear Brand: Luli Fama

Luli Fama’s swimwear is playful and sexy! This Latin-owned women’s luxury swimwear brand has eclectic, colorful patterns and focuses on flattering fits. In fact, I often recommend their bottoms as one of the most flattering bikini bottom options because of the ruched center seam, which creates a perky shape for the bum and prevents the fabric from drooping over the years.

Available at Revolve.

Sizing: XS-XL

Material: 80% polyamide, 20% spandex

Luxury Swimwear Brand: PatBo

Designer Patricia Bonaldi started creating her own clothes as a child since buying new clothes wasn’t feasible during her upbringing in Uberlândia, Brazil. That led her to found Patbo. Today, the luxury swimwear brand features vibrant hues and maximalist designs that quite literally pop out at you! Whenever I need a truly fashion-forward swimsuit, I head straight for Patbo.

Available at PatBo.

Sizing: XS-XL

Material: 85% polyamide, 15% elastane

Swimwear Brand: O’Neill

O’Neill carries a wide range of colors, prints, and styles in their swimwear line. O’Neill started as a surf brand in San Francisco before introducing swimwear, so a lot of their suits are perfect for more active water activities (or for adventuring with elephants in Bali).

Available at O’Neill, Nordstrom, and Amazon.

Sizing: XS-XXL

Material: 85% recycled polyamide, 15% elastane

Swimwear Brand: Bleu Rod Beattie

Rod Beattie created Bleu with his California roots and love for travel in mind. The designs also offer a tropical feel in both vibrant and neutral colors. This is another swimwear brand that makes me feel perfectly covered in all the right places — and yet still sexy!  I’ve previously raved about how their one-pieces are super flattering and do just that. No unruly back fat is prospering in these suits.

Available at Bleu Rod Beattie and Nordstrom.

Sizing: 4-14

Material: 75% nylon, 25% spandex

Swimwear Brand: MiracleSuit

MiracleSuit is one of the best swimwear brands for my clients size 14 and up. They really know how to prop up a large bust and slim that waist! Print hides more than black can, which is why I love the option above. Still prefer a black suit? This is the top-ranked Miraclesuit in black.

Available at Nordstrom, Bare Necessities, Bloomingdale’s, and MiracleSuit.

Sizing: 8-16

Material: 69% nylon, 31% Lycra® spandex with 82% nylon, 18% Lycra® spandex contrast

Swimwear Brand: Free People

Free People makes the list of the best swimwear brands because of this bikini bottom. It’s one of the most flattering bottoms I have ever tried on. It doesn’t cut your flesh and it covers up all the things you want to hide. Plus, you feel super secure. The top paired with it fits weirdly though, so skip that and pair with your favorite top style in black from another swimsuit brand.

Available at Free People.

Sizing: XS-XL

Material: 83% nylon repreve, 17% lycra

Swimwear Brand: La Blanca

La Blanca specializes in creating inclusive and flattering swimwear with an impressive size range of 0-22W. The high-quality fabrics they use ensure their swimsuits feel wonderful on the skin and are durable enough to last.

Available at Nordstrom, La Blanca, Neiman Marcus, and Amazon.

Sizing: 4-22W

Material: 83% nylon, 17% elastane

Best Swimwear Brand For Plus Sizes: Artesands

Artesands is hands down the best swimwear brand for curvy and plus-size women. This Australian brand was created to address the lack of plus-size swimwear options that were fashionable, supportive, and comfortable. The name itself is a combination of “sand (the beach) and artisans (skilled workmanship).” They’re very vocal about their inclusivity and you can see it throughout their site with fabulous models of all shapes and sizes sporting their designs. Their prints are absolutely phenomenal and they offer legitimately flattering two-piece selections up to size 24! Besides being flattering across the board, their designs are fashionable and on-trend.

Available at Nordstrom.

Sizing: 8-24

Material: 82% recycled nylon, 18% elastane
