Manchester United joined by unnamed European side willing to pay Antoine Griezmann’s €100m clause

Atletico Madrid remain confident of retaining Antoine Griezmann this summer, even though the player has opened the door to a departure, according to L’Équipe.

Manchester United are willing to pay Griezmann’s €100m release clause as well as another, unnamed European side, the newspaper claims.

Griezmann will consider his future with long-time advisor Eric Olhats after the international break. He might very well decide to stay at Atletico, but at the age of 26 he is running out of time to make one or two more steps to go to the next level and try to confirm himself as Europe’s best.

Atletico Madrid appear to be lining up Diego Costa in case Griezmann does decide to depart, but very much as a contingency plan.

Overall, nothing has changed in this situation, and it won’t until after the international break.

José Mourinho’s Manchester United will have a part to play but the player’s mind is far from certain in terms of what he wants to do this summer.
