L’Équipe are reporting that Nantes are closing in on the loan signing of Nice striker Evann Guessand (21). Following the departure of Randal Kolo Muani to Eintracht Frankfurt, the Coupe de France winners are in search of offensive reinforcements.
Nantes also lost Willem Geubbels (20), who returned to AS Monaco following his loan spell last season, during which he made 26 appearances, scoring three times. The club are once again looking to the Côte d’Azur for their latest attacking loanee. Guessand looks set to join the club on a simple one-year loan, which reportedly won’t contain a purchase option.
Last season, Guessand made 20 Ligue 1 appearances, but only started twice. He scored one goal and registered three assists.
He is set to become the club’s second signing following the arrival of Moussa Sissoko (32), who joined on a €2m deal from Watford. Nantes are in need of reinforcements ahead of a packed season, during which they will compete in European competition for the first time in almost two decades.
