As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Marseille are set to sign former Porto and DR Congo international defender Chancel Mbemba.
The 27-year-old defender will sign a three year deal with OM, keeping him at the Velodrome until 2025 with the former Newcastle United player set to undergo his medical soon before signing his contract. The centre-back has been pictured arriving in France today.

Mbemba’s deal in Portugal expired last month, meaning he’ll join OM as a free agent after a €5m move to Porto in 2018 from the English side. The versatile defender played 138 times for Porto, scoring nine goals and assisting one more, and sufficiently impress Lyon during the club’s Europa League knockout tie last season to pique their interest too.
OL had made an approach for the player last summer as well but were quoted €8m to sign him with the player keen to remain in the Champions League, something Marseille are now able to offer. The player has been reportedly ‘looking for a new challenge’ while seeking an annual salary of €3m.
