Chelsea representatives were at France vs Scotland for N’Golo Kanté

Chelsea had representatives present at France vs Scotland yesterday for N’Golo Kanté, according to our colleagues at Foot 365.

The French international has been pursued intensely by Antonio Conte’s men in recent weeks after they decided that the €45m price tag for Radja Nainggolan that AS Roma have slapped on the Belgian international’s head is too excessive.

Plan B is therefore Leicester’s N’Golo Kanté. Chelsea have had advanced talks with the player over a provisional contract and attempted to convince him to give them the go ahead to activate his release clause.

It was reported by various media outlets several days ago that the player had decided to wait until after EURO 2016 to make a decision on his future, but Chelsea’s presence in Metz last night suggests that CFC are hoping to close this deal before the tournament starts.

They are likely to continue to struggle with their attempts because PSG have come back for the former Caen man strong in recent days, offering him a five year provisional contract, according to Le Parisien.

Kanté appears to have yet to make a decision, having prioritised Arsenal only for the North London side to show less interest recently since the signing of Granit Xhaka.

The player likes the idea of London and therefore Chelsea, but PSG can offer Champions League football, something that Kanté is itching to get a taste of as soon as possible.
