Malins is no stranger to the Ashton Gate-based club as he enjoyed a memorable loan stint with them between 2020 and 2021.
The 25-year-old, who has represented England in 14 Tests, helped Bristol to a European Challenge title and top spot in the Premiership standings.
He was also the Premiership’s leading try-scorer in the 2021/22 season with 16 tries and will join the Bears on a two-year deal.
Happy to have him back at Ashton Gate
Bristol head coach Pat Lam is delighted that Malins has decided to return to the club.
“Max is already one of the top players in the Gallagher Premiership and he made a huge impact during his loan spell with us at the Bears. We are all looking forward to welcoming him back into our team again,” he said.
Malins added: “I’m delighted to have signed with the Bears. During my loan period, I was made to feel very welcome by the fans, thoroughly enjoyed my rugby and made some good friends. I look forward to returning and hope to carry on where I left off.”
