Nantes’ General Manager Franck Kita informed manager Miguel Cardoso of his sacking this morning in a meeting where the contours of a compensation package have already been discussed.
20 Minutes report that Cardoso will remain manager for this weekend’s match vs Lyon, but that this will be the Portuguese tactician’s final foray with Les Canaris.

Nantes have made approaches for a number of potential replacements including Scottish coach David Moyes, members of Claudio Ranieri’s former coaching staff (Andrea Azzalin and Paolo Orlandini), whilst Vahid Halilhodzic and Willy Sagnol have also been mentioned.
Pascal Dupraz’s name was also brought up, but has been shut down. The primary target for Nantes at this hour is however Jocelyn Gourvennec, who is a free agent since being sacked by Bordeaux in January of this year.
Talks already occurred between Nantes and Gourvennec this summer, but negotiations broke down over the amount of staff that the Frenchman wanted to bring with him.
