Prolific AS Monaco forward Wissam Ben Yedder (31) registered his 21st goal of the Ligue 1 season against Angers on Sunday. It is the first time that the French international has scored more than 20 goals in a domestic campaign.
In Sunday’s post-match press conference, his manager, Philippe Clement, said he is unimpacted by the achievement and is looking to add to his tally before the end of the season. “I didn’t feel that Wissam was more happy than usual. He has a lot of desire to score more. When you reach an objective, you have to be ambitious in order to improve. It is a quality possessed by great players such as Ben Yedder, who isn’t satisfied with 21 goals, but whose objective now is to score his 22nd, his 23rd…”
Ben Yedder is now level with Martin Terrier (25) on 21 goals in this campaign, whilst Kylian Mbappé (23) has 24 goals with just three gameweeks remaining in the season.
