L’Équipe report this morning that negotiations between Paris Saint-Germain and Sassuolo for Italy forward Gianluca Scamacca continue to stall, despite an agreement over personal terms being in place.

The 23-year-old, who scored 16 goals last season, is under contract until 2026, and has seen his club set an asking price of €50m, a sum which PSG’s upper management have no intention of paying – instead, they believe his worth to be at €40m.

While the Ligue 1 champions retain hope of bringing in the strike, they have also begun working on the potential signing of Gonçalo Ramos from Benfica.

The Portuguese youth international scored seven goals in 29 appearances for the Lisbon club this past season, and new sporting advisor Luis Campos has been a fan of his for several years. He is represented by Jorge Mendes

PSG had previously retained hope of bringing in Robert Lewandowski ten days ago, but the Pole has now completed his switch to Barcelona. In any case,  a scenario which sees club bringing in an extra two strikers on top of Hugo Ekitike remains possible.
