IT’S BEEN A day of significant change in Gaelic football, a new All-Ireland football championship format to be introduced from 2018 for a three-year period.
But there’s been a heated reaction from current and former inter-county players. They’re not happy with the news from today’s GAA Congress at Croke Park.

Players club & county don't agree but who gives a fuck about them. It generates more 💰 & who cares about developing weaker counties.

The turkeys have voted for Christmas at Congress today! First steps on the road to professionalism. Don't worry about the rest #super8

How broke are the GAA? Like there must be some truth we can't fathom that they will bulldoze through #Super8s knowing players hate it. pic.twitter.com/ZUz6WeIxRE

Can't be bothered following Congress updates after super 8 is passed. 2021 before club players can get a fair deal, depressing thought.

Every single decision made from Co Board level to Croke Park driven by €€€ & greed. Development of players & game itself peripheral at best

Absolute joke about super8, all down to money and the GAAs greed. Money rules a voluntary organiation #GAAcongress17 #gaa

Congress & it's delegates are detached from reality. They're being conned by the commercial arm that now runs the GAA. So sad. #elitism

Disappointing to realise in the modern day that players opinions count for absolutely nothing in how our own games are run #Super8

So the teams that are going to get plenty of games at Q/F stage are to play more games where the weaker counties will still only play 2/3 🤔
