Although Monday’s edition of RAW marked the official start of the brand extension, it didn’t stop SmackDown Live Superstars from stepping into the squared circle.
After RAW went off the air last night, WWE Champion Dean Ambrose teamed up with fellow SmackDown Live Superstar John Cena to compete in the tag-team post-show dark match, as the two defeated RAW Superstars Seth Rollins and AJ Styles in a match that was featured strictly for the live crowd in attendance at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
As noted, WWE intends to keep the RAW and SmackDown Live rosters separate, outside of the big joint pay-per-view events. However, it’s certainly obvious that if they feel the need to, they are willing to put some SmackDown Live talents in the ring on Monday nights if it serves a purpose, such as helping drive ticket sales.
