Vince Russo has made his feelings on the current WWE product clear on a handful of occasions now. Frequently criticizing the shows, as well as WWE’s desire to push the likes of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens as stars, Vince Russo has a lot of changes that he would make if he were in charge. Apparently, the former WWE writer claims that he contacted Vince McMahon last week, and spoke with him about a return to the company. Russo appeared on Fightful.com for an interview and revealed that the two of them actually did talk for a while. In the past, Russo has tried to get his foot back in the door with WWE, but has been ignored every time.
“I’ve reached out to Vince McMahon in the past week. He got back to me. I am still a wrestling fan at heart, going back to when I was 10, 11 years old. I hate today’s product. To me, it’s not professional wrestling.” Russo said before stating that he’s willing to help solve his perceived issue with modern wrestling, “I don’t want to be the guy critiquing the problem without saying ‘Here’s my olive branch, I think I can help you as the numbers go down every week.’ I didn’t use the word help. You don’t tell Vince McMahon he needs help. I said ‘if you want me to contribute, I’d love to once again contribute.’” Despite the conversation, Russo added that McMahon did not seem to have any interest in rehiring him.
Say what you will about Vince Russo, but he has been a major contributor (for better or worse) for promotions such as WCW, WWE, and TNA. People definitely talk about Vince Russo, and his booking choices, once they’ve been seen. For those of you expecting to see Russo back in control over at WWE, it doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon. Although, it is interesting to hear that both McMahon and Russo are speaking to each other again. The entire interview with Vince Russo can be found at Fightful.com
