AJ Styles To Face Kevin Owens For US Title At WWE Backlash

The Phenomenal One is on deck for a shot at Kevin Owens’ US Championship.
The WWE Network tweeted confirmation late Tuesday that AJ Styles and Owens, who reclaimed his title from Chris Jericho on SmackDown, will face off at WWE Backlash in Chicago on May 21.
Here’s a link to the tweet:

Here’s a rundown of what the Backlash looks like right now:
WWE Championship — Randy Orton (c) vs. Jinder Mahal: While Orton was completing his feud with Bray Wyatt, Mahal was becoming his chief challenger for the strap on SmackDown after winning a six-man No. 1 contender’s match.
United States Championship — Kevin Owens (c) vs. AJ Styles: After Owens took the title back from Chris Jericho on SmackDown, he slid into the open slot in this match as Styles had already captured the No. 1 contendership.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler: WWE has announced that Nakamura will make his main roster in-ring debut nearly six weeks after joining SmackDown at Backlash. It will likely be against Ziggler due to their ongoing feud.
Tag Team Championship — The Usos (c) vs. Breezango: Picking up the No. 1 contendership by winning a two-match beat the clock challenge on SmackDown, Breezango is penciled in here.
Women’s Championship — Naomi (c) vs. Charlotte Flair: The rematch will likely come at the pay-per-view after Flair did not get a decision against Naomi for the title on SmackDown.

Baron Corbin vs. Sami Zayn: Corbin is currently out of both title pictures, and Zayn came to AJ Styles’ rescue while Corbin was beating him down on a recent SmackDown. Corbin later attacked Zayn on Talking Smack and was suspended for a week.
