A Turkish heiress who was killed in a plane crash on the way home from her hen party in Dubai has been described as an "elegant" bride-to-be who was devoted to her family.

Mina Basaran, 28, died when a private jet carrying her and seven friends crashed into mountainous western Iran as it returned from a luxury holiday in the United Arab Emirates to celebrate her up-coming marriage to Murat Gezer in April.

Ms Basran was one of nine Turkish nationals, including the plane’s crew, killed in the crash. Two of her Spanish friends were also killed. It remains unclear what caused the crash, though a witness told state television the Bombardier CL604 was on fire before it hit the mountain.

“Mina was very close with her friends. They’d always spent time together. …And she was devoted [to] her family," Gulay Koc, who interviewed Ms Basaran for a luxury lifestyle magazine, told The Telegraph.

Ms Koc, who met Ms Basaran several times since the interview, often along with her mother, added: “She was so cute, elegant and smart. She was always passionate about the fashion. She usually travelled to fashion capital all over the world. Paris, Milan, London.”

A Spanish actress named Yolandthe Cabau posted a photo on Instagram of her kissing Basaran on the cheek.

“She was greatly loved and admired. She carried a heart of an angel,” Cabau wrote.

Ms Basaran was in line to head her father’s company, Basaran Investment Holding, which is involved in the tourism, finance, construction and energy sector. One of Huseyin Basaran’s construction projects included luxury apartment blocks called “Mina Towers,” named after his daughter.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Mina Basaran completed her Master’s degree in London at the European Business School and was board member of her father’s company.

Ms Basaran was active on social media, posting photos on Instagram of her and her friends during their trip. One showed her in a white bathrobe surrounded by her seven friends in pink bathrobes at a Dubai hotel.

Her Twitter account was a mix of articles about her family’s business and fashion news, as well as retweets about demonstrators being tear gassed in Istanbul during anti-government protests in 2013.

Ms Basaran, who appeared on the cover of Grazia’s Turkish edition in 2015, became engaged in October at the Soho House in Istanbul, according to local reports.

Investigators found the jet’s “black box” on Monday. The cause of the crash is unclear but one witness told Iranian state broadcaster that the plane was on fire before it crashed.
