SDSU Adds Two More Recuits to 2014-15 Class

BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State head wrestling coach Chris Bono announced the signing of two more signees to the 2014-15 Jackrabbit wrestling recruiting class. Henry Pohlmeyer and Jimsher Sidhu both signed their National Letters of Intent indicating their plans to enroll to SDSU in the fall.

Pohlmeyer and Sidhu join Brett Bye, Louie Sanders, Anthony Cefolo, Cameron Sykora and Kasey Klapprodt as part of the 2014-15 class.

Henry Pohlmeyer
“Henry is a proven winner against some of the best competition in the country,” Bono said. He is a smart kid who hates to lose.”

Pohlmeyer attends Johnston High School where he is considered one of the top pound-for-pound wrestlers in Iowa. He went 37-5 as a sophomore en route to his first state title at 106 lbs. He owns a 100-25 career record entering his senior season.

The two-time state placewinner is also a 2014 USA Wrestling Preseason Nationals champion and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. He is a four-time Greco and freestyle state champ, along with being a Fargo All-American.

Pohlmeyer, who chose SDSU over Iowa, North Dakota State, Pittsburgh and SIUE, plans to pursue a pharmacy degree while at wrestling for the Jacks.

Jimsher Sidhu
“Jimmy is truly a diamond in the rough,” Bono said. “He has the build that we were looking for and the sky is the limit for him. We are beyond excited to get him in the room.”

Sidhu wrestles for Khalsa Wrestling Club where he took third in the 2014 Cadet Pan Am Championships. He also won the Cadet/Juvenile Canadian Championship and FILA Cadet Trials in 2014.

“These two guys add another level of depth and intensity to our program,” Bono added. “They are going to come here and bring immediate competition to our room, which is going to make our team stronger. This is an outstanding recruiting class that will help us take the next step as a program.”
