After just one season in charge of the Reds, Nick Stiles has been told he won’t be required in 2018.
The QRU board have tried to keep the decision quiet over the past two weeks but privately, it’s understood Stiles has known his fate for some time.
A four-win 2017 wasn’t deemed good enough with the list that the Reds boast and as a result, there will be a coaching overhaul at Ballymore.
Brad Thorn will take the reins as coach in 2018, with the board convinced stints as coach of the Queensland U20s and Queensland Country in the NRC have provided enough experience to lead a Super Rugby side.

He will be flanked by former Rebels boss Tony McGahan, with former Reds boss Phil Mooney also set to return to Ballymore. On the cash front, Stiles will have to be paid out.
He was contracted for 2018 and that will create additional headaches for a cash strapped QRU.
Stiles and the QRU have been contacted for official comment.
