Ashley Nell Tipton is feeling a little nostalgic with her holiday capsule collection, her second collaboration with mass retailer JCPenney. “I wanted to continue the ’50s aesthetic that inspired my fall line but add a touch of glamour for the holiday season,” she tells InStyle. And Tipton has accomplished her mission. You’ll find everything from sparkly tops to a gorgeous faux-fur capelet, which happens to be her favorite: “If I had to choose just one piece, this would be it—it’s so fun and glamorous! And it keeps you warm while taking your outfit to another level.”

Tipton’s Boutique+ holiday collection, available in sizes up to 30W/5X, has something for everyone. The designer’s goal is for women of all sizes to look amazing and put their best fashion foot forward. “Don’t limit yourself to wearing a black dress because it’s ‘slimming,'” she advises. “Be bold and wear things you like. If you want to wear a cropped top, do it! I encourage women to wear color, wear stripes, wear sequins—just wear what makes you feel confident and strong. If it looks good and fits well, you’ll look great and feel great too.”

And with the holidays quickly approaching, what is Tipton’s trick for dressing with ease during this busy season? If you’re going to a holiday party straight from work, switch up your accessories to take the look from day to night: “Layer on necklaces and throw on a pair of earrings that makes a statement and you’re all set to go.”
