Edmond, Okla. — Minnesota State (9-2, 6-0 NSIC) has moved up to No. 8 in the latest Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Poll. MSU, winners of seven straight, tallied 89 points and jumped two spots in the latest installment.
Individually, MSU has four wrestlers ranked – led by the upperclassmen duo of Brendan Eichmann (174 lbs) and Aaron Norgren (184 lbs). Both wrestlers remain ranked No. 4 in their weight class. Eichmann stands at 18-6 on the year while Norgren sits at 9-5 on the year.
Freshman standout Alphonso Vruno (133 lbs) makes his debut in the among the nationally ranked at No. 7. The team-leader in wins owns a 27-5 record.
Returning All-American Cody Quinn (165 lbs) fell to No. 7 in the latest poll; Quinn is 16-7 on the year.
The Mavericks will travel to St. Cloud, Minn., tomorrow to take on the top-ranked Huskies. A win will guarantee MSU at least a share of the NSIC Regular Season Championship. MSU will host Northern State on Friday, Feb. 15 in its regular season finale.
