The Sterlite Copper Smelting plant owned by Vedanta in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi which was shut down last month after massive public protest over pollution, will remain so, D Jayakumar, a senior minister in the state cabinet has clarified.

Jayakumar’s comment came after a pro-Sterlite campaign by the likes of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev and Spiritual leader Jaggi Vasudev.
